CCTV is used by almost all businesses at their premises it seems. Sometimes this is to protect stock and assets: such as in shops where shoplifting is a problem or it may be to keep an eye of staff. Vandalism, protecting staff and avoiding break-ins are just two more reasons why businesses may use CCTV. The use of CCTV in businesses is presumably as widespread as it is because it works well, both for catching criminals and as a deterrent. It seems strange then that more homes don’t have CCTV: perhaps partly this is due to people seeing it only as a preventative measure or for catching people after a crime has been committed. Even a home CCTV system though can catch criminals in the act and let you or a security company call the police in time.
You may often have to leave your home unattended: especially when this is overnight your security risk increases. Security lights help but many would be thieves are wise to how to get around such minor problems. If you are often away from home and worried about the safety of your home, wouldn’t the ideal thing be to be able to check it wherever you are? Well with security cameras that is basically what you can do: get online on a computer or even on your phone and look at your home using security cameras. You can even control the tilt, pan and zoom on cameras from wherever you are to have a good look around, you may want night vision cameras even. Of course if it looks as if there is a problem you can call the police. Now though what if you can’t be constantly checking your home? Does this mean that security cameras are useless? If you have a good alarm system you can have it send you alerts if it goes off so you can check your cameras and call the police if needed. If you may not always be in a position to check whenever you get an alert through then you can use a security company. A security company can either regularly or constantly check your cameras or just check them when they get an alert through from your alarm system. They will then be able to attend straight away as well as calling police but they may well of course be able to attend much more quickly.

With a business you can of course use these same high-tech systems, often businesses are unattended at night while you are at home or away and you would ideally want a security person on site. A security person is of course very expensive but you can either check the cameras either yourself, get an employee or colleague to check them or use a security system and again this can of course be checking them only when an alert comes through or on a constant or regular basis. If you are the one checking you can even attend yourself, which may be ideal if something doesn’t seem quite right but you aren’t sure enough to call the cops.
